'Parasite' Actor Lee Sun-kyun Found Dead in Car

Actor Lee Sun-kyun(48), who was under investigation for alleged drug use, was found dead in Seoul's Jongno-gu Waryong Park on the 27th, Korean time. The discovery comes as a shocking turn of events for the acclaimed actor.

According to police reports, at around 10:12 AM, a 112 call was received stating, "My husband left a note resembling a suicide note and left the house. There was contact until yesterday. His car is also missing." Responding to the report, police located the actor's vehicle in Waryong Park at about 10:30 AM. Lee was found unconscious inside the car, with a piece of charcoal briquette discovered in the passenger seat, suggesting possible carbon monoxide poisoning.

Authorities confirmed the deceased as actor Lee Sun-kyun. A fire department official stated that Lee was already dead upon discovery, and thus was not transported to a hospital for treatment.

Lee was being investigated under the Narcotics Control Act for alleged marijuana and psychotropic substance use. He had submitted a request through his attorney for a polygraph test to the Incheon Police Agency's Drug Crime Investigation Unit the day before his death, challenging the credibility of the evidence against him, which primarily consisted of statements from a nightclub manager.

Lee Sun-kyun gained international fame for his role in the Academy Award-winning film "Parasite" in 2020 and was a top-rated actor in South Korea.
